In flat grassy field with scattered trees on river terrace 100-200 m. from river. Vegetation here originally was gallery forest with najá, tucum verda, Loreto, Maranhão, Brasil, 1963. pixel 3450x1536Acaulescent palm 4 m. tall. Leaf 1 is 4 1/4 m. long from ground level (& problably another 3 dm to connection with undergroud stem tissue) & almost 1 m. wide. When collected was cut at point 3 dm above ground level.
